It was a joy to have a family party and celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. Any excuse to have a family celebration is worth it. You never know what the days ahead will bring and we should have more celebrations in our lives! Almost all of our immediate family was able to celebrate out on Tybee Island for a few days with my parents. The four of us kids made them a book of “40 Things We’ve learned from Dad & Mom” I’ll give y’all my top two.
One: My parents have shown me Christ in all aspects of their lives. They not only preach the gospel but they live it daily. This has been very challenging and encouraging to me throughout the years. I know anytime I have questions or problems they always push me back towards Christ.
Two: They adopted me when I was four years old as their own child. This was a tough time of my life. But they accepted me as their own child. Flaws and all. My number two points back to the number one. Isn’t this what Jesus does for all of His children? Accepts us as His own and adopts us as His children. Such a beautiful picture of the gospel.
James and I are only one-tenth of the way to 40 years and I wanted to honor y’all. Thanks for making marriage and family a top priority for yourselves and for all of us. And thank you for loving Jesus with your whole lives. We love you both.
